Brooke and Colleen have been friends since their early days attending Columbia College. Their friendship strengthened as they completed graduate school and began their professional careers. Since college, Brooke and Colleen have shared a passion for helping others heal and grow. Both having dreams of opening a female-owned small business focused on filling systemic needs in their community and providing clinical services. Early in their careers, Brooke and Colleen recognized the importance of knowledge, passion, and commitment to others when working as helping professionals with vulnerable populations. Their passion continued to grow as Brooke and Colleen also began seeking ways to support helping professionals who were experiencing secondary trauma in their work through training, supervision, and research. Soon, Brooke began working full-time in social work education, while continuing to work with children and families involved in the foster care system. Colleen continued her clinical work; but added working as an adjunct professor in the disciplines of Social Work, Psychology, and Leadership. Dreams of opening their business grew as their experience and career direction became more fine-tuned. As Brooke continued to pursue career growth within Academia by working toward a Ph.D., her experiences led her to an interest in researching issues related to trauma-informed supervision practices for helping professionals impacted by secondary trauma, specifically those working with child trauma survivors. While Colleen continued to hone her skills and years of experience as a trauma clinician, Brooke worked to receive her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. All the while, Brooke and Colleen continued to meet together over lunches at Groucho's and Columbia-crafted beers at Hunter Gatherer, to brainstorm ways to make their visions of owning a clinical consulting business a reality. After years of dreaming, they both began to feel equipped with the experience, knowledge, and direction they needed; Brooke and Colleen decided it was time. In December 2017, Impact Clinical Consulting, LLC was established with a mission to provide clinical support to helping professionals and have an impact in clinical areas of need in our community. At Impact we are merging our professional experience and passion into the services we provide.
